01 / Principle
Not turn the user into the product.
Work should continue when the network does not.
The safest data is the data never collected.
Useful tools without an ecosystem holding the keys.
Your attention is not our inventory.
A clear exchange, without manufactured dependency.
02 / Local-first manifesto
Powerful software without unnecessary dependency.
03 / Active work
Active products and experiments from HardBrain Labs. Each one is designed to remain useful without creating unnecessary dependency.
World by Design is a visual research project that documents the everyday graphic design language of cities and countries.
World by Design is a long-term design research and archiving project that examines the visual language of communication created in the daily lives of different countries and cities. Rather than focusing on tourist attractions or traditional travel content, the project centers on the graphic design elements people encounter every day. By documenting street signs, wayfinding systems, billboards, posters, storefronts, packaging, advertisements, typographic applications, and similar visual elements, the project examines the unique design character of each city. The examples collected as part of “World by Design” are not merely archived visually; they are also evaluated in terms of typography, color usage, composition, visual hierarchy, readability, and cultural context. This reveals how graphic design integrates with daily life in different regions and how local cultures are reflected in visual communication. The project’s primary goal is to bring together design approaches from different regions of the world under a single visual archive and to create a constantly growing source of observation, research, and inspiration for designers.
04 / How HardBrain builds
Keep the shortest distance between a person, their work, and their software.
Connectivity should expand capability—not become a condition of entry.
Privacy works best as an architectural constraint, not a settings page.
No ads, no dark patterns, and no pricing built around lock-in.
05 / Studio experiments
Early research, interface studies, and new tools—kept visible without pretending every question already has an answer.
